Our office is a medical corporation for advanced gynecology, so in addition to meeting your every day gynecological needs, we also can provide advanced and modern procedures to take care of you in your time of need or to provide relief from stress caused by heavy periods, temporary birth control methods, or urinary incontinence.
Dr. Renee Cotter specializes in advanced outpatient procedures, many of which can be done right here in the comfort and convenience of our West Hills office. As one of America's Top Gynecologists, she uses the most up to date methods and technology to maximize both your safety and your comfort during and after these procedures.
General Gynecology
General gynecologic check-ups are recommended for any woman 18 years or older, or sooner once sexual activity begins.
A regular cervical Pap smear done here in the office is your best defense against cervical cancer, the third most common cancer among women worldwide. However, with the invention of the Pap smear to detect irregular cells, rates have dropped 70%.
An annual breast exam will also aid early detection of dangerous masses and help you stay healthy.
Other problems such as urinary tract or yeast infections, STIs, difficult menstruation, premenstrual symptoms, menopause, and more can all be addressed by Dr. Renee Cotter or NP, Deborah Turturro, here in the office.
Long Acting Contraception
Long Acting Reversible Contraception is an option for the prevention of pregnancies that may last for up to five years depending on the contraception of choice.
There are three types of long acting contraception: Intrauterine Device (IUD), Nexplanon arm insert, and Depo-Provera shot.
All of these methods are as or more effective than standard oral contraceptive pills and don't come with the risk of forgetting a dose or the burden of daily pharmacy.
Permanent Sterilization
Laparoscopic tubal ligation and laparoscopic removal of the fallopian tubes are treatment options for permanent sterilization once you no longer desire to have children.
Laparoscopic tubal ligation and removal of the fallopian tubes are minimally invasive procedures with fast recovery times.
All procedures have you home on the same day with minimal pain and a quick return to normal activities.
Endometrial Ablation
A procedural option to permanently relieve the stresses of heavy menstruation with a single minimally invasive procedure.
Did you know 1 in 5 women suffer from heavy periods? Often times this interferes with regular activities, causes embarrassing accidents, and leaves you returning to the bathroom every hour to change feminine products.
Urinary Incontinence
Urinary incontinence is a common problem for many women.
There that may be fixed with different methods. Some are as simple exercise while others may require a single incision procedure.
If it is time to surgically correct a urinary incontinence, the procedure will have you home on the same day.
Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
A minimally invasive type of hysterectomy where only a few tiny incisions are made to surgically remove the uterus when it is medically necessary.
The outpatient procedure that gets you home on the same day has reduced risk of infection, minimal scarring, less pain, and a speedy recovery compared to traditional operation.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse
After childbirth and menopause, many women experience this condition where some of the pelvic organs bulge down into the vagina.
As a normal part of aging, tissues that once held these organs in place weaken allowing them to prolapse.
This condition may be resolved with non-surgical or minimally invasive surgical correction.
